Abstract :

The present study was undertaken to investigate the effects of performing a well-designed warm up protocol with different intensities i.e. high intensity warm-up (HIW), low intensity warm up (LIW) and no warm up (NW). For the purpose of study --- active male players of various games were selected as participants. The subjects underwent the warm up protocols with all the three conditions dispersed by a gap of three days and performance on fitness variables i.e. agility(10m shuttle run test), leg strength (leg dynamometer) and flexibility (sit and reach test) were taken. The exercises included in warm up protocol were controlled in the terms of their intensity by fixing their number of repetition or duration of exercise. The results of the study revealed that there is a significant difference between the HIW and LIW in terms of agility performance (p<0.05) and the LIW and NW also differ significantly in terms of their flexibility performance (p<0.05). It is concluded that HIW is better than LIW in strength and agility performance as compare to LIW and NW . But LIW is also significantly better than the NW condition.
