World Bank Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Mulyani Indrawati today encouraged girls to pursue higher education in order to serve the nation.
Indrawati, who visited the Kasturba residential school in Anoppura village here with the bank's delegation, encouraged the girls to get higher education so that they become eligible to be on higher posts and serve the nation. She also highlighted the role of the World Bank while addressing the girls.
The 10-member delegation of the World Bank also inspected the arrangements at the school and interacted with the girls, who shared their dreams and aspirations about future with them, a release said. The team members, who were given traditional Rajasthani welcome by the school staff, visited kitchen, library, toilet, computer and other rooms of the school.
Meanwhile, the delegation today also reviewed the progress of several projects during a meeting with Chief minister Vasundhara Raje and state officials here. The Rajasthan Rural Livelihood Project, Agriculture Competitiveness Project and Road Sector Modernisation Project, which are supported by the World Bank were reviewed by the Indrawati and her team members who expressed satisfaction over the progress, a release said.
Indrawati also appreciated the state government's project for strengthening rural roads network and the state government's vision 2020. Chief Minister informed the delegates that the state government's focus was on improving energy sector and for providing quality electricity.
She also emphasised on early approval from the World Bank for the second phase of state highways project and electricity reform project on which the MD assured that a group of experts will be sent to the state soon to start the process. |
