Abstract :

The Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), launched in 2014, is one of India's most ambitious sanitation initiatives aimed at eliminating open defecation and improving rural hygiene practices through the construction of toilets and promotion of behavioural change. This study evaluates the impact of SBM on rural sanitation, with a specific focus on toilet construction, usage patterns, and shifts in community behaviour. Based on primary data collected from 400 rural households, the findings indicate a significant increase in household toilet availability and usage post-SBM implementation.
